The Matter of Sentiment...?

Do our fellow Hollywood writers actually experience what they so urgently need to show us in a cheap rom-com or do they truly experience romance, if there is such a feeling?

Looking over the bad productions (even the ones that are done well) can we say that this is how life goes: boy meets girl, they fall for each other, something happens that breaks them up, then another bad thing happens bringing one back to the other and they live happily ever after... Honestly ask yourself when was the last time that this happened to you? Have you found that one special person? The second time I broke up with someone my mum let me into the secret that Disney has been hiding from all young girls: there is no prince charming in this world! There isn’t one person that is perfect, don’t be sitting around waiting for them to poke their head out of the bush. We have to find relationships, work hard on them, Hollywood along with every other film industry that has made a movie about falling in love such as “The Ugly Truth”, “Monster In-Law”, “Titanic” and “Good Luck Chuck”, it doesn’t happen this way unless you live in a movie!

Cinema: is it responsible for the image that men are supposed to uphold. Who said that they had to be masculine with a taste for violence? According to magazines all girls desire a bad boy but has this been questioned or are we waiting for others to question for us? Clearly the feeling of these assigned traits isn’t favourable between the two sexes. Men as much as I hate them right now they don’t have to be macho men ready to head over to the gym. It isn’t a requirement for them to have to act ‘hard’ and women; the image that men are supposed to have isn’t a necessity! If you find a guy caring, interesting and you’re interested then there is a possibility of it working, even if he isn’t Hercules. Don’t base your relationships around films which are really movies (merely there for entertainment). Hollywood writers are just doing it for the cash; a relationship is hard work, not all damsels in distress!
